JOB DESCRIPTION

Onslow, one of Auckland's most sought after dining establishments, is Josh Emett's sophisticated yet relaxed restaurant that guests come back to time and time again.

We are currently seeking experienced Sous Chefs who are masters of their craft, passionate about creating exceptional food, and thrive in a high energy, fast paced environment.

Key Responsibilities 

Support the Head Chef and work with the kitchen team to prepare food that consistently exceeds customer expectations and produce menu items to the highest standard.

  • Oversee the operation of a designated section of the kitchen.
  • Perform food preparation tasks in the kitchen to assist in the preparation of dishes.
  • Ensure that recipes and measurements are strictly adhered to, to ensure consistency, quality and cost control.
  • Assist senior chefs with food preparation and menu development.
  • Rotate through different sections to develop your skills and broaden your experience.
  • Impart knowledge and training to junior kitchen team members.
  • Follow food safety and hygiene standards and ensure compliance in all areas of food preparation.
  • Ensure all equipment is well maintained and operational and work environments are kept clean and organised.
  • A solid understanding of kitchen service along with proficiency in the mechanics of a busy service.
  • A desire to make your mark and contribute to the team and success of the restaurant.

RECOMMENDED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Please note: You should have a minimum 2 years previous experience in the above or similar roles.
